Patchtax_Q5A6945Patchtax – comprised of saxophonist, Mary Joy Patchett, and violist, Eve Boltax – was founded in 2013. The duo explores unconventional performance practices within the realm of classical chamber music. In 2107 they received a grant from the Boston Foundation and the Barr Foundation to launch a call for scores that targeted composers with marginalized identities and chose Cuban/Canadian composer Evelin Ramón and Uruguayan composer Sofía Scheps to write new works for the duo which will be premiered in December 2017. Patchtax also received a grant this year from the New England Foundation for the Arts to start a choir with members of the MANNA community, a community of homeless men and women of downtown Boston.  They have toured throughout Vermont, Quebec, California, and Washington and have been in residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts, and Avaloch Farm Music Institute.
